Our Gourmet range of Madagascan Bourbon Planifolia Vanilla Pods (Vanilla Beans) from the Sambava region of Madagascar is approximately 15-16 cm in length, supple, moist, plump and have a distinctly black colour without blemishes (Graded First Quality NFN (Non Fendues Noires) - Non Split Black)

Shorter than the Premium Grade Vanilla Pods, these Madagascan Vanilla Beans offer the same classic aroma of Madagascan Vanilla, these pods are supple, moist, plump and have a distinctly black colour without blemishes.

    These are nothing like the tired, small, shrivelled up tat that I can get from the supermarket OR the overpriced, battered, mauled over pods from the market.

    The entire ground floor of our block of flats smelt divine when I went out to get these from the postman. He said he's had lustful looks from one of his colleagues. I told him it was 'just vanilla', but you could see he didn't believe me!

    I can well believe it. I'm drooling over them.

    They are luscious, rich, juicy, plump pods that just make you want to start cooking straight away.

    I'll be back for more, you betcha!

    By the way, vanilla bags are so simple to make. After you've used the seeds, chop up the left over pod into half inch lengths, pop them in a small glass bowl and leave them on a warm windowsill to dry for a couple of days. Then put them in the middle of a square of net and tie the top with a thin ribbon. A lovely alternative to lavender bags!
